A multi-specialty group with 170-bed adult hospital is seeking fellowship- trained Critical Care Intensivists: Full-time employment with benefits, competitive salary. Coverage of two 8-bed ICUs at main hospital plus coverage at 2-bed Women's Hospital ICU. BC/BE Critical Care Medicine fellowship. As an affiliate of one of the largest healthcare system in the state, a referral system is in place. Position is a non-academic practice; there are no residents. Current responsibilities of Intensivist: On site management of 16 bed ICU. Average census 8-10 patients. Assisted by acute care nurse practitioner, working Monday-Friday. Patient composition: 30% neurosurgical (mostly nonoperative intracranial hemorrhages), 30% respiratory failure (includes 1 out of hospital arrest pt/week), 20% sepsis, 10% miscellaneous medical (GI Bleed, drug overdose), 10% consults on surgical patients. Surgical population includes open heart, neurosurgery, vascular and general surgery/urology. We occasionally have a burn pt in the ICU due to respiratory failure (intubation). Off site management of Adult ICU at nearby Women and Childrens hospital. Average 1-2 pts per month. 90% of the time the patient is transferred to our Hospital for ongoing care; otherwise we would go to that hospital. Critically ill pregnant females are transferred to another hospital/ Intensivist service. Member of Rapid Response team. Also staffed by respiratory therapist and Crisis nurse. Schedule is based on 12 hour shifts providing 24/7 Intensivist presence in hospital. 4 week cycle consisting of seven 12hr day shifts and six 12hr night shifts. Ancillary support includes active interventional radiology staff and interventional neuroradiologist. Although this client has an out-patient Chest Diseases Clinic, there are pulmonologists who take care of that aspect; this position is mainly ICU.
