Hospitalist Position Open in Great Family-Centered Community
Board Certified/Board Eligible internal Medicine physician to join busy Hospitalist practice Iowa.
This nine-person group provides inpatient care for approximately 45 family practitioners and 10 general surgeons. The group functions autonomously, but within a large multi-specialty clinic system.
100% of the workload is inpatient . Flexible scheduling. Twelve hour shifts.
Consultative services are also rendered for neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology and gastroenterology and the emergency department. Therapeutic and diagnostic internal medicine predominant, with some critical care as well.

Adult Psychiatrist Position –
One of three adult psychiatrists.

Our 46 bed adult psychiatric program is in a state hospital, providing an acute inpatient treatment program serving 37 counties in Northwestern Iowa. The program receives 570 admissions per year, and has an average length of stay of 29 days, with a median length of stay of 14 days. The program is housed on three wards, two locked and one unlocked. The treatment team includes the psychiatric Chief of Service, physician assistant, social worker, nurse supervisor, ward nurse, rehabilitation specialists, and psychologist. A registered nurse is on the ward 24/7, and direct care ward staffing ratios are high, as are overall staff: patient ratios (greater than 5:1) for the hospital as a whole. All three current adult psychiatrists are board certified.
The town is situated in the Little Sioux River Valley and has 5700 residents. It is located one hour from Sioux City, two hours from Omaha and Sioux Falls. Iowa has the best public schools in the country. For some time, Iowa has never ranked below #2 in ACT test scores. It has an open enrollment school system and all schools are within walking distance. Characteristics of the local community include: low unemployment, low housing costs and overall cost of living, a community college, a lake with camping and hiking, movie theatre, water park and swimming pool, wellness center, local symphony, community theater group, museum and planetarium, annual Jazz Festival, annual rodeo and county fair.
Base Salary for a Board-Certified Psychiatrist is $158,687, with a 10% salary supplement for optional weekly call (5pm-8am). Fringe benefits for this position are $41,000, and include: malpractice, major medical/dental, deferred compensation, 2 weeks educational leave, 18 days sick leave (which include 5 paid days for family care), 9 paid holidays, 12-22 days paid vacation per year based on length of service.
The State of Iowa offers a full pension program, IPERS, which is regarded as one of the best in the country, based on its good management and low costs. There is an additional deferred compensation plan available for retirement, allowing an additional $15,000 to be saved pretax. College Savings Iowa is regarded as one of the best programs in the country, based on good management and low costs, and permits a state tax rebate for funds saved in that program.
Moving expenses are covered up to $15,000. Several local moonlighting opportunities are available for $12-56,000. There are almost no managed care requirements. J-1 Visa applicants are welcome.
