Currently a 9 physician multi-specialty practice consisting of 6 internal medicine, 2 endocrinologists and 1 rheumatologist. The primary care physicians serve as Hospitalists for the entire group, as well as support the hospital's inpatient diabetes consultation service.
Background: The practice was first established in 1911. The physicians joined the Hospital primary care physician network in 1995, now known as the company.
Patient volume: Primary care physicians generally see 22-25 patients per day, 4-1/2 days per week. Patient panel size per primary care physician is 1,200 to 1,500. All primary care physicians share hospital duty, with a rotation of 1 week of every 7. Average hospital census is 15 patients; however an intermittent census of over 20 does occur.
Practice hours: Office hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays.
Call Coverage Arrangement: As above for Hospitalist rotation, plus intermittent evening hospital/office call, Sunday through Thursday.
Weekend call rotation for office and hospital diabetes service, one weekend every 7 weeks.

The Dr., MD is a family practitioner and has been in practice for approximately 24 years. The Dr. will move his practice from Clyo Road to the new building 1st quarter of 2008. The practice will accommodate 4 physicians.
Another Dr., MD is a family practitioner who joined the Dr.in August 2008.
Patient volume
The Dr. sees an average of 28-30 patients per day.
A 3rd Dr. joined the practice in August 2008 and is beginning to build her practice.
The Dr. & 3rd Dr. do not see his patients in the hospital. Patients are covered by the Hospitalist group at Miami Valley Hospital.

The expectation based on previous experience in the Dayton market is the new physician will build rapidly. The plan is to grow the practice and recruit two partners.
The Hospital South building is a new location that offers 24 hour emergency services with digital diagnostic and testing services as well as outpatient surgical services. A beast center also compliments the services at Hospital.
Recruitment criteria
The physicians would like to recruit a full-time physician that is committed to building a busy practice. Candidates must be willing to work hard and see a minimum of 28-30 patients per day. The Dr. described the ideal candidate as a "go getter". It will be necessary for the new physician(s) to market themselves and become involved in the community.
